If the arrival of OnePlus 9T is already put aside, the truth is that another ‘T’ version will be part of the OnePlus lineup for 1200. We are talking, of course, of the OnePlus 9 RT, the brand’s new smartphone that is a candidate for the flagship killer label, which today leaves us an air of its grace, through a bank of tests.
The platform is the Geekbench 5, famous test platform that is also a reference in the market, and often lets us know in advance the details of the most mediatic smartphones about to to be revealed. And in that sense, details appear today about the OnePlus 9 RT, namely about the processor.

OnePlus 9 Design RT should be very similar to OnePlus 9R.
While many had been predicting that the OnePlus 9 RT would be practically a copy of the OnePlus 9R, today’s information indicates that there is even a possibility that the new model will be superior in terms of performance. According to data revealed by Geekbench, the motherboard of the new OnePlus is code-named “lahaina”, corresponding to the Snapdragon processor 888, the same one that equips the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.
This means that the OnePlus 9 RT will be as powerful as the best smartphones from 1200, surpassing the OnePlus 9R, which reached the market with a Snapdragon processor , whose motherboard had the name “kona“.
The results of the tested device are not particularly surprising, but it is worth remembering that they correspond to tests on a prototype, where the results are historically inferior to the final product. In this sense, the 818 points obtained in the test single-core and the 3246 points obtained in the tests multi-core turn out to be closer to what we’ve seen from other smartphones tested with Snapdragon 888 before its release.
More accurate data that practically confirms that this will, in fact, be Snapdragon’s processor 888, will be the octa-core structure and frequencies of each core, with the most powerful being the run at 2.42 GHz, three other high-performance cores at 2.50 GHz and the four efficient cores at 1.50 GHz.
Other data that this test allows us to assess is that the prototype tested used a configuration in 12GB of RAM and running Android 12. Interestingly, rumors had been indicating that the OnePlus 9 RT would be the first smartphone from OnePlus to hit the market with Android 11, following the steps of the OnePlus 8T. However, after OnePlus’ recent announcement regarding the merger of the OxygenOS and ColorOS systems, it will be interesting to see how the Chinese company will manage the transition to the new unified system and what the future of OxygenOS will be in the coming months until that date.
As for other data, various sources guarantee that the OnePlus 9 RT will arrive with a main chamber of 50MP Sony IMX750, the same used in the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, as well as the OPPO Find X3 Pro. More details should follow in the coming weeks as we get closer to launch of the new terminal, which may be exclusive to the Chinese and Indian market.
