Hearties! We’ll be returning to Hope Valley shortly. Season 9 of When Calls the Heart, one of Hallmark Channel’s most popular shows, has come to an end.
“That’s a wrap, that’s a wrap, that’s the end of season 9 of When Calls the Heart,” sings co-stars Chris McNally and Kevin McGarry in an impromptu video on Instagram.
There are no spoilers for those who haven’t seen it yet, but When Calls the Heart centres on the life of Hope Valley teacher Elizabeth Thornton (Erin Krakow).
After falling in love with and marrying a Mountie (Daniel Lissing) for the first eight seasons of the show, Elizabeth became a widow when he was tragically killed in the line of duty. When she gives birth to their first child, a son she names Jack in honour of her late husband.
While dealing with life as a single mother after the death of her husband, Elizabeth meets two new suitors: businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) and a fellow Mountie named Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry). Elizabeth made her choice between the two men in the season 8 finale, and the decision continues to divide fans.

Following the announcement, Hearties were quick to ask the same question in the comments section. March? What the #ohnoooooo!!! wrote one person. “Wow!!! “March?! “Isn’t it February already?” In response to a fan’s question, “@hallmarkchannel had not yet announced a date for Season Nine. The release date is the first information they’ve shared.”
As a matter of fact, this is correct. When Erin first announced that WCTH would return with a ninth instalment in May, she didn’t give a release date. In addition, there was a message at the end of her video that said, “Coming 2022.”
On Sunday, March 6, at 8 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel, the ninth season of When Calls the Heart will premiere. On Sunday nights through May 22, there will be 12 one-hour episodes in the new season.
We return to Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) a few months after she made a decision between Mountie Nathan Grant and businessman Lucas Bouchard (Kevin McGarry) at the end of season 8. (Chris McNally). They shared a passionate kiss on a bridge outside of town in the final moments of the show.
