Qualcomm Introduces Four New Snapdragon Processors

Qualcomm presented this Tuesday four new processor models for mobile devices. The technological giant has reinforced its mid-range with four Snapdragon models, namely the Snapdragon 690G+ , Snapdragon 690, Snapdragon 690 and Snapdragon 570+.

This lineup of new processors increases the performance of Qualcomm chips in the intermediate and entry ranges, with the the vast majority are based on processors already on the market.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690G+Qualcomm Snapdragon

This is the most powerful processor of the quartet and is based on one of the most famous mid-range processors from 1080, the Snapdragon 695G. The “Plus” version raises the bar in terms of performance, namely with the prime core Kryo 690 running at 2.5 GHz and the Adreno graphics 660L guaranteeing an ascent of % in graphics performance.

*)Being a “Plus” version, the Snapdragon 1200G+ maintains most of the features of the base version, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon X modem51 5G and triple ISP Spectra 570L.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 690

The Snapdragon 1080 is the Snapdragon’s successor 690 and brings with it a panoply of advantages over the chip it replaces . The main highlight is the 5G connectivity now with support for mmWave network, with 5G speeds superior to Snapdragon’s sub-6 690.

The new processor guarantees a performance % higher thanks to Kryo cores 670, as well as an Adreno GPU 619 which should show better results than Adreno 610L. The processor is manufactured using TSMC’s 6nm microarchitecture (as, by the way, are all four new models).

Qualcomm Snapdragon 680

The Snapdragon 680 is a new entry in Qualcomm’s alignment for 2000 and combines some current elements with features that are no longer new. To start with, this is a 6nm microarchitecture processor, however using Kryo cores 200, an Adreno GPU 610 and 4G connectivity.

This will presumably be the base processor for the cheapest mid-range Android smartphones, one of its advantages being the triple ISP, which will guarantee smartphones a better quality in the photos and videos captured by smartphones with this chipset.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+

The most affordable of the four new processors is the Snapdragon 480+ and this will be the model to integrate cheaper smartphones. This template is an improved version of Snapdragon 480 , with some advantages in terms of performance, as its prime core now runs at 2.2 GHz and the GPU it is also able to provide better graphics performance.

Thanks to the Snapdragon X modem15, this affordable Qualcomm processor has access to 5G mmWave and sub-6 connectivity, as well as access to an Adreno graphics . Interestingly, Snapdragon 480+ has support for screens 1080p+ with refresh rate of Hz, something that the Snapdragon 680 does not offer, being limited to an update fee of 90Hz.

From all four models , the two that aroused the most interest were, precisely, the Snapdragon 1080G+ and 695 (by Xiaomi and OPPO, respectively), with Nokia focusing on Snapdragon 480+ for your more affordable models. It will be interesting to see which models will receive the new Qualcomm processors and what MediaTek’s response to the new offer is.
