Shakira and Piqué confirmed their breakup last year; Piqué is currently dating Clara Chia Mart. Shakira is talking openly about overcoming heartache months after her breakup with Gerard Piqué.
The Colombian singer discussed how to feel complete on her own in an interview (conducted in Spanish) with Enrique Acevedo of Canal Estrellas on Wednesday.
“I have to admit that I have always been quite emotionally dependent on guys. I was smitten by love “Shakira, 46, revealed to the presenter that she once thought a woman need a guy in order to be whole.
In some way, she added, “I’ve learned it from another perspective and believe that I’ll be alright on my own. “A lady grows stronger as a result of facing challenges in life. Coming out stronger indicates that you are becoming more aware of your vulnerabilities and learning to embrace them.”
In the present, Shakira claims to be “on the road up” and to have “managed to believe that I am enough” – two things she “never dreamed would happen.”

She stated of her two children, Sasha, 8, and Milan, 10, whom she shares with Piqué, 36, “I feel whole — because I feel like I can depend on myself and I have two kids who depend on me.”

More than 11 years after they initially publicly acknowledged their relationship, Shakira and the soccer player made the announcement that they were splitting up in June.

Since then, in January, Piqué and their girlfriend Clara Chia Mart, 23, have made their Instagram accounts public. Shakira released three songs in the meantime that appear to reference the breakup.
The most recent song is “TQG,” a duet with fellow Colombian superstar Karol G, in which they sing about witnessing a previous lover go on and how the experience made them stronger.

She collaborated with Argentine producer Bizarrap on the brutal tune “BZRP Music Session #53,” which was released in January. She claimed in an interview with Acevedo that when recording the song, she “entered the studio one way and came out another.”
