Austin Majors, the child actor who starred in “NYPD Blue” as Theo Sipowicz died on 11th February 2023, due to the consumption of a fatal amount of fentanyl. The 27-year-old actor’s death was reported by his sister Kali Majors.

Born on 23rd November 1995 In California, United States, Austin Majors was an American actor known for his portrayals of Theo Sipowicz on 48 episodes of NYPD Blue. He was also a part of “How I Met Your Mother”, “Desperate Housewives”, “An Accidental Christmas”, “Threshold”, and “NCIS”. He has a younger sister named Kali Majors.

He attended USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in directing and music production.

Majors made his acting debut in 1997, through the movie “Nevada”. He subsequently featured in small appearances in the film “The Price of Air”, and the television series “Providence”.

Majors rose to fame by playing the role of Theo Sipowicz, the son of Detective Andy Sipowicz in the series NYPD Blue from 1999 to 2004.

Austin Major’s Cause of Death

According to the reports, Austin Major’s cause of death was from a fentanyl overdose while staying at an “interim housing program” makes him the latest victim of the drug and homelessness crises plaguing California. However, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner has so far labeled the official cause of death as “deferred pending additional investigation.”

The former child star is said to have been staying at a homeless shelter in Los Angeles where his body was discovered.

Austin’s heartbroken family issued a statement on his death, telling TMZ, he, “Was a loving, artistic, brilliant, and kind human being. Austin took great joy and pride in his acting career. He was an active Eagle Scout and graduated Salutatorian in High School. He went on to graduate from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a passion for directing and music producing.”

The statement continues, “Austin’s younger sister, Kali, says her fondest memories with Austin were growing up on set with him, volunteering at events with “Kids With a Cause”, and backpacking together. Austin was the kind of son, brother, grandson, and nephew that made us proud and we will miss him deeply forever.”

At the time of his death, Majors was a resident of The Hilda L. Solis Care First Village in Los Angeles as part of its “interim housing program.” It’s unclear exactly where Majors died, but according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, Majors died at a “residence.”

Fans are pouring in tributes on Twitter to the former child actor with one saying, “So incredibly sad, rest in peace.”

Another fan wrote, “RIP actor Austin majors at the age of 27,” while a third said: “Remembering Austin Majors, the talented child actor from ‘NYPD Blue’ who left us too soon at the age of 27. Rest in peace.”
