The #MeToo movement seems to have drawn a line in Hollywood between life before and life after it. The claims of sexual harassment against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein were the subject of a comprehensive exposé published in The New York Times on October 5, 2017. That prompted several actresses to boldly come forward and share their experiences of being raped and assaulted, not just by Weinstein but also by other prominent figures in the entertainment business.
After all, was said and done, 87 actresses had come out with complaints against Weinstein. When she was 23 years old, Angelina Jolie spoke to a studio executive about a terrifying occurrence.
She said, “I had a negative experience working with Harvey Weinstein in my teens and as a result, I decided never to deal with him again and warned others when they did.
Even though Weinstein is currently incarcerated, certain cases are barred by the statute of limitations and will never be heard in court. Some cases, such as the legal suit against Prince Andrew for his alleged involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking network, are still ongoing decades later.
Every survivor’s experience has one thing in common, and that is that they all deserve to be heard and supported. Hollywood has made efforts to better safeguard actors both on and off-set, but in many cases, power and money continue to suppress victims, and the judicial system is still lagging behind in punishing abusers. Find out more about the well-known people who have been accused of sexual assault and find out how the cases are currently progressing.

Harvey Weinstein
Many people in the entertainment world were aware of Harvey Weinstein’s commanding presence, but several women were aware of his far more sinister side. The co-founder of The Weinstein Company was accused of sexual harassment and coercion after actors like Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan shared their experiences.
He originally refused to refute the allegations of sexual harassment, instead telling the BBC that he was sorry and understood that the way he had previously interacted with employees had caused a lot of suffering. I deeply appreciate all ladies and am sorry for what occurred. I am deeply sorry for the people I offended, and I will make amends with each of them.
Yet once the rape claims surfaced in a New Yorker piece, Weinstein changed his position. According to Mr. Weinstein’s representative, “Any claims of non-consensual sex are categorically refuted by Mr. Weinstein.”
He is now in a Los Angeles county jail awaiting his West Coast trial, which is anticipated to take place this summer. He is currently serving a 23-year term in New York for rape and sexual assault.
Chris Noth
Chris Noth was accused of sexual assault by two women in two different places over a decade apart just after the Sex and the City remake debuted. One of the victims spoke about the Trauma she had following her alleged rape in 2005. She told The Hollywood Reporter, “I had hidden it for as long as I could, and then I truly wasn’t doing well and ultimately went to the treatment the ER had prescribed.”
Noth issued a statement refuting the allegations. There is a barrier I did not cross: “These stories may have happened 30 years ago or 30 days ago—no always means no.” The interactions were voluntary. It’s difficult to not wonder about the timing of these tales’ publication. I am unsure of why these are coming to light at this time, but I am positive of one thing: I did not abuse these ladies. He was let go from The Equalizer, and the flashback portions in the finale when he played Mr. Big were cut.

Armie Hammer
Exes like Paige Lorenze, Courtney Vucekovich, and a model named Effie accused Armie Hammer of sexual assault, manipulation, and coercion in 2021. They allege that after initially showing interest in BDSM, Hammer would turn violent and humiliating, detailing cannibalistic fantasies and wanting these women to be his “sex slaves.”
In January, Effie started posting screenshots of what she said were chats she had with the actor. Later that year, she hired Gloria Allred as her legal counsel, and in March, with Allred on her side, she made a formal accusation of rape against Hammer during a news conference.
The model stated that Hammer “would frequently test my dedication to him, cleverly eliminating and breaching my limits, as he got progressively aggressive” in the press conference that was captured on film. He sexually, emotionally, and psychologically assaulted me.
Hammer disputed every accusation and called them “bulls**t” to E! Hammer was sacked from all of his film projects and, despite an LAPD investigation, he was never prosecuted criminally, saying “in light of the cruel and frivolous internet accusations against me, I cannot, in good conscience today, abandon my children for four months to make a picture in the Dominican Republic.” He started treatment in May 2021, and as of right now, he is back in the Cayman Islands, close to his ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, and their two children.
Prince Andrew
Now, Virginia Roberts Giuffre is the subject of a civil trial in which Prince Andrew is charged with raping her after Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked her. All of the accusations have been refuted by him, and he even claimed that a sweaty photo of him and Giuffre, then 16, had to have been doctored because of his “adrenaline overload in the Falklands war, when I was fired at… it was practically impossible for me to sweat.”
After being relieved of his top royal duties, he has generally avoided the spotlight. He is being forced to liquidate some of his assets and deal with rising debt and legal costs as a result of the civil litigation. Although the palace has mostly shielded him, he may now have to deal with the legal repercussions if the Epstein case goes to trial and the jury finds him guilty.

Dustin Hoffman
Seven different women accused Dustin Hoffman of sexual assault and harassment in 2017, including two young girls who were under the age of 18. The Hollywood Reporter and Variety published in-depth articles on the allegations, with one victim of the Oscar winner’s attack stating, “I was frozen. I was not inside of myself.
He provided a comment to the media following the first revelation in The Hollywood Reporter. I have the highest regard for women, and I’m sorry if anything I did would have made her feel uncomfortable. I apologize. It doesn’t accurately represent who I am.
Hoffman’s lawyer Mark A. Neubauer of Carlton Fields Jordan Burt described the women’s accounts to Variety as “defamatory lies” as the accusations grew. The 84-year-old actor has been out of the public eye for the past four years, but he does have two films in development, one with Sissy Spacek and the other with Mayim Bialik.
