This week, the Oscar-winning actor’s daughter disclosed that dad was recovering from a “medical complication” in a statement from his family.
Jamie Foxx is recuperating. A source tells PEOPLE on Friday that the 55-year-old Day Shift star is progressively getting better.
His daughter Corinne Foxx initially informed the public of his health situation on Wednesday by saying that he had experienced “a medical complication” the previous day. She withheld information about Foxx’s condition or what led to his medical emergency.

The Foxx family released a statement through Corinne, 29, saying, “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday.”
Fortunately, he is already making progress toward recovery thanks to prompt intervention and excellent care. We are aware of how cherished he is and value your prayers, the message says. The family requests discretion at this time.
The request for a response from the media was not immediately answered by a Foxx spokesperson. Recently, he was spotted filming Back in Action on Netflix.
Back in Action’s set was “shut down” on Wednesday as a result of the lead actor’s health issue, a source previously told media.
A stand-in for Foxx was present on site as shooting picked back up on Thursday, a source claimed.
According to an email obtained by media on Thursday, a casting director for Back in Action told extras that a sequence scheduled to shoot this Sunday has been postponed due to “changes in production.” Foxx, Cameron Diaz, and Glenn Close had been filming the movie in Atlanta earlier this week.

The memo states that sequences slated to shoot on Monday and Tuesday are anticipated to proceed as planned and won’t be postponed as a result of the modifications.
An inquiry for comment from the media was not answered by a Netflix representative. Several of Foxx’s well-known acquaintances have paid him respect on social media since Corinne’s statement.
On Thursday, LeBron James tweeted, “Sending my brother @iamjamiefoxx my thoughts and prayers from the heavens above!!!” Get healthy and return to yourself AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! if God wills.”
Kerry Washington, who played him in the movie Ray, posted a cute throwback photo of her resting her head on Foxx on Instagram on Thursday.
“A @iamjamiefoxx appreciation post,” the former Scandal actor captioned the image. ‘Sending you all my love and prayers,’ says the character in the movie Huzbin.
Washington, 46, played Della Beatrice Howard Robinson, the second wife of the late musician Ray Charles in the film for which Foxx received his Academy Award.
