“I have a deep love for my wife. Marriage is a difficult process that is not for the weak of the heart, as Pittman exclusively discloses to PEOPLE. Ralph Pittman is accepting responsibility for their divorce from Drew Sidora, his ex-wife.
Pittman, 40, apologizes for his part in the divorce from the Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 38, and expresses his aspirations for the future in an exclusive message to PEOPLE.
“I have a deep love for my wife. It goes without saying that marriage is a difficult journey and is not for the weak of heart,” he continues. “My wife and children are the most important people in the world to me, and I have dedicated my life to being a source of strength and encouragement for them.”
Although we are aware of the true cause that finally motivated my request for a divorce, he continues, “I’m using this time to be more self-reflective and endeavor to become the best version of myself. I truly regret my part in our relationship’s decline, but I stand behind my response to the petition. I have hope and optimism for better days ahead as the seasons change.
Sidora made a series of shocking accusations against her ex-partner in March, claiming that he was a “serial adulterer and cheater” who had financially and emotionally abused her and had even become “physically aggressive” with her at one point.
Sidora previously confided in PEOPLE about her choice to get a divorce due to their failing marriage. It was just a convergence of things that shouldn’t occur in a marriage, she said, adding that everything in the petition she supports it. And I believe it was really difficult to not be able to take responsibility for it, to apologize, to go through it, to care about my emotional state, and want to work on and repair that.

A “boiling point” was reached, in Sidora’s words, when some of their marital problems “started to happen on camera” and she started to experience “embarrassment on top of what we were dealing with behind closed doors.”
“[It was] definitely the breaking point, and enough is enough,” she admitted. “And I didn’t anticipate that. Of course, I was forever, but the wrong behavior seemed to never end as if there was nothing else for me to hang onto. It was simply excessive.
Despite the accusations, the Step Up star was “hopeful for an amicable divorce.” “I want to find a fantastic co-parenting partner. I want us to be able to be friends and treat each other with respect after this, she said. “I want my kids to be content, and I also want to see what life has in store for me after all of this. Though it’s difficult to imagine today, I would adore moving forward simply being entire.

When word of their split spread, Pittman spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about the breakdown of his marriage.
He said at the time, “Love is a great thing. “Unfortunately, we have decided to move on to our subsequent chapters independently of one another. We have made the decision to divorce. Our three wonderful young children’s mindsets and development are of utmost importance. I kindly ask that you maintain our privacy as we work through this trying time.
Sidora later provided PEOPLE with a statement of her own. I have made the hard decision to release my husband with love after eight years of fiercely defending my marriage, she stated. “Even though Ralph and I have decided to go our separate ways, we aim to stay friends so that we can safely co-parent. Despite the fact that we lead very public lives, I am requesting solitude at this trying time while my kids and I figure out how to negotiate our new beginnings.
