Who Is Cardi B?

Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus on October 11, 1992, is an American rapper and songwriter. She first became well-known as an influencer on Instagram and Vine. She gained more notoriety after the release of her two mixtapes, Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1 (2016) and Vol. 2 (2017), which chronicled her pursuit of her musical goals. She appeared as a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York from 2015 to early 2017. (2017).

On the first episode of REVOLT’s The Jason Lee Show, the 30-year-old rapper and mother of Kulture, 4, and Wave, 1, discussed her brief absence from the spotlight following the birth of her son in September 2021.

She explained, “I didn’t want to pop out after I had my son because, as I said, I wanted to finish up my body first. “Many people believed that I would automatically undergo surgery after giving birth. No, I actually had to wait seven months before having surgery because it’s required.”

Fans began to speculate that Cardi had work done prior to attending Paris Fashion Week weeks after the birth of her son, but she had already dispelled plastic surgery rumours just one month after giving birth. She said at the time, “You cannot have surgery right after giving birth.” Guys, I lost so much blood, especially me.

Cardi had previously acknowledged having a breast augmentation and liposuction after the birth of her daughter, despite her intention to be more patient with her body after the birth of her son. In May 2019, she admitted to Entertainment Tonight, “Yes, my daughter f***ed me up! She tweeted in June 2019 that she wouldn’t undergo surgery once more after experiencing some complications as a result of the surgeries.

On October 11, 1992, Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar was born in Manhattan’s Washington Heights. She was born in Trinidad to a mother of African and Spanish ancestry and a Dominican father.

Almánzar was raised in the South Bronx’s Highbridge neighbourhood and spent a lot of time at the Washington Heights home of her paternal grandmother, which she attributes for giving her “such a thick accent.”

Almánzar derived her stage name “Cardi B” from the rum company Bacardi, which she had previously gone by as a nickname.

Hennessy Carolina, her younger sister, was born in 1995. She has said she was a gang member with the Bloods in her youth, since age 16,  but stated she would not encourage joining a gang.  She attended Renaissance High School for Musical Theater & Technology, a vocational high school on the Herbert H. Lehman High School campus.

Other Ventures

She collaborated with M.A.C. and Rio Uribe’s Gypsy Sport for an event during New York Fashion Week in February 2017.  Designer Marc Jacobs sponsored her appearance in i-“A-Z D’s of Music” video in April, and she appeared on the cover of The Fader’s July/August 2017 Summer Music issue.

In September 2018, Tom Ford unveiled a lipstick that bears her name and is inspired by Cardi B. Within a day, it was sold out. She collaborated with Fashion Nova to release a clothing line collection in November.
