It was discovered that Charlbi Dean, a 32-year-old South African actor, had bacterial sepsis months after his sudden death in August 2022. A representative for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner told People that the sepsis “was a complication from asplenia (the absence of a spleen) due to “remote blunt trauma to her torso.”

Initially ruled to be an accident, it is now known that the sepsis that led to Dean’s premature death was brought on by a type of bacteria called capnocytophaga, which is found in the mouths of dogs and cats and can be transmitted to humans through bites, scratches, or close contact.

What Her Brother Revealed?

She started having “minor” symptoms and asked her fiance to take her to the ER.  A few hours before she passed away, Dean’s brother Alex Jacobs revealed to Rolling Stone days after Dean’s untimely death. “This all happened in the course of one day: she had a headache, went to bed, woke up her boyfriend, and asked him to take her to the hospital.
