After the case is closed, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver become suspects in a new murder that occurred in the building — and the topic of a new podcast presented by their favorite podcast host Cinda Canning, played by Tina Fey.

Seeing a blood-soaked Mabel clutching the dead body of Arconia building manager Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell) “launched the investigation into a whole new direction,” to use a phrase from Charles’ former character, Brazzos.

Despite this, creator John Hoffman assures that the second season of Only Murders in the Building will retain many of the elements that fans loved about the parody that mocked true crime enthusiasts in the first place.

In October 2021, the Grace and Frankie writer told The AV Club, “The way a real crime podcast or something like that can develop a community… the show generates the same kind of community around its mystery and creates discussions amongst us and can link us.”

While the first season ended on a sour note, Hoffman believes that watching Gomez, Martin, and Short’s characters connect in these trying times would bring them some joy.

In October 2021, the producer told Deadline, “They were all lonely folks who are also complicated people with sadness and pain.” “I know that doesn’t sound like a fantastic comic idea, but I’m constantly looking for the universal human qualities in people we can all relate to.”

Date of Publication

The Hulu series has yet to be given an official return date, although it is expected to launch in mid-2022.

Cast

Gomez, Martin, and Steve, the show’s three stars, will all return for the forthcoming season.

Cara Delevingne was later confirmed as a season 2 series regular. Alice, a clever art world insider who becomes entangled in the mystery, will be played by the model.

Short teased Deadline in January 2022 that he had recently recorded with Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer for the hit Hulu series.

Plot

Mabel (Gomez) appears to kill Arconia building manager Bunny (Houdyshell) with her knitting needles in the season’s finale, and Season 2 will pick up shortly after that. The cops then take her and her podcasting mates, Oliver (Short) and Charles (Martin), away.

In October 2021, Hoffman told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming season will take a “larger path” since “with all of them on the hot seat, having stepped in it in such a way, it really goes back and forth between being lauded or spoken about in the wrong way” in New York.
