LOS ANGELES, Sept 20 (Reuters) – The new “Star Wars” television series “Andor” promises a look into the everyday lives of the individuals who become heroes in the continuous struggle occurring in a galaxy far, far away.
“Andor,” which will be available on Disney+ (DIS.N) on Wednesday, is a prequel to the 2016 film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” The titular Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, is the primary character.
“There has to be action and adventure and that enormous sweep of science fiction that you anticipate from ‘Star Wars,’ but we can also be new,” Luna told Reuters.
The 12-part series tries to provide an answer to the issue of “What was it like for people to be willing to give up everything for a cause? I don’t believe we’ve seen anything like it “Luna stated.
“I don’t think we’ve been in the most intimate lives of the individuals who had to live under the Empire’s authority. What were those gloomy times like? In terms of everyday life, we will now know that “He continued.
The events of “Andor” take place five years before those of “Rogue One,” in which Luna’s character sacrifices himself for the greater good. Disney has already ordered a second season, which will run up to the start of the film.
“I think the most important thing is that we attempt to make this all believable,” Tony Gilroy, writer of “Rogue One” and “Andor,” stated.
“We want everything to feel real – real emotions, real stakes, real threats, real terror, real betrayal, real love, real desperation, real families, real domestic drama, real adventure,” he stated.
