Thomas Davidson is an American comedian and actor who was born on November 10, 1963. He was a founding member of the cast of the sketch comedy television series In Living Color.
He also appeared in the films Rushon in Booty Call (1997), Womack in Bamboozled (2000), Between Brothers (1997-1999), Dexter in Malcolm & Eddie (1999-2000), Oscar Proud in The Proud Family (2001-2005), and Black Dynamite (2009) and its follow-up television series. Davidson read aloud from his book, Living in Color: What’s Funny about Me, on Storybound in 2022.
Young Years of Tommy Davidson
On November 10th, 1963, Anthony Reed was born in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. At the age of 18 months, Reed’s biological parents left him; he was later discovered in a garbage can. Fortunately, a woman who later became his adoptive mother came to his aid.
His name was changed to Thomas Davidson following his adoption to reflect his new parents. He then grew up with two older white siblings in a white family. He and his family relocated from Colorado to Wyoming before settling in Oregon when he was five years old.
Davidson also saw his adoptive parents divorced when he was five years old. After that, his mother reared him in Washington, DC. Tommy’s family moved all over the DC metro region when he was a little child, and he himself continued to migrate from place to place. He had residences in Silver Spring, Wheaton, and Takoma Park, all in Maryland.
Tommy enrolled in the University of the District of Columbia after finishing high school, where he studied communications for one semester. He worked as an intern at the university’s radio station during this time.
Tommy also bussed tables at IHOP and worked in the kitchen at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to support himself financially. He also obtained work as a cleaner and in storerooms.

Tommy Davidson, one of the best comics working today, started performing stand-up comedy in 1986. He was well-liked in the community for his comedic performances. Gradually, Davidson was given numerous chances to perform at a variety of bars and clubs.
At the beginning of his career, he also participated in humanitarian campaigns. After winning a competition in the Apollo Theater in 1987, he rose to prominence in the comedy world. Soon, he had numerous opportunities to interact with well-known American comedians like Martin Lawrence.
