Veteran reggae artist and producer Freddie McGregor has reportedly been hospitalized after suffering a stroke in the United States.
Details regarding the artist’s health are not immediately available, but initial reports indicate that the artist and songwriter have now suffered a stroke and are being hospitalized and receiving treatment in the United States.
It’s unclear when the artist had a stroke, but some reports say it was over a week ago and he may still be in a facility in Florida.
Earlier this month, the 66-year-old announced that he will be joining British reggae band his UB40 on his 45th anniversary tour starting in December.
The group had nine shows scheduled in the UK and Northern Ireland. Freddie McGregor was scheduled to join the group in Nottingham on 2nd December before traveling through Norwich, Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool, Belfast, Castlebar, Birmingham, Leeds and London.
“Hot Off the Press: Are you ready for UK Massive???!! To mark our 45th anniversary, we are very much looking forward to joining the legendary UB40 at our upcoming arena shows in December.” he wrote in his Nov. 7 post.

The artist has been active from 2022 through mid-November, with multiple performances in the United States and Colombia, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Miami Consulate General in September.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Oliver Mare, Consul General of Jamaica in the Southern United States, for giving me this wonderful proclamation. It was at the 2018 Atlanta Jerk Festival and it was a real blessing,” he wrote on his Facebook account.
The Big Ship label founder is also gearing up for the release of his album A Breath of Fresh Air, which will be produced by British company Stingray Records and released in early 2023.
His family has not officially told fans about his condition.

Freddie Sings For Medical Staff
The reggae community responded with glee to the video circulating on social media.
The video appeared to show Freddie McGregor at an undisclosed Florida medical facility.
Big Ship his captain looked triumphant as he belted out one of his classics. Wheelchair-bound and backed by a band and his vocals, the Push Come to Shove singer performs an almost flawless rendition of I See It in You while the crew rocks out to sweet reggae harmonies.
He was dressed in what appeared to be blue pajamas and sneakers, and used his right foot to mark rhythmic beats.
A woman who seemed to be a staff member was completely captivated by his performance.
The event was like a Christmas treat for patients and staff.
